Coffee & Your Health: Friends or Foes?

We can all admit it: we just want some good justification for that second  third cup of coffee of the day.

I come to you with (mostly) good news.

Coffee is a stimulant, meaning it speeds up our nervous system. This contributes to the invigorating energy boost it gives us- it get things going. 

The benefits of this Monday morning life saver includes:

  • It lowers the risk of Parkinson’s + dementia.
  • It helps us concentrate.
  • It lowers the risk of stroke in women.
  • Boosts your metabolism.
  • And it’s a great source of antioxidants!

With that being said, too much of a good thing can be bad. Think: kids. Having two or three kids makes your life more exciting and fulfilling! But four or five can result in anxiety, agitation and very distributive sleeping habits. These effects can be all the more dangerous for those with high blood pressure, so consume with caution!

We live in a world full of caffeine, and it comes in lots of exciting and delicious forms. Coffee is my drug of choice, and I am thankful for it allowing me to transform from a grumpy morning troll into a beautiful, caffeinated butterfly.
